Temporary Deputy General Counsel
As the temporary Deputy General Counsel, you will provide legal advice to the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State (OSS) as well as information to our county and municipal Election partners, Business Services partners, and the general public. This position serves as a subject matter expert on: data practices compliance; legislation review and rulemaking; advising on applicable federal and state statutes, case law, and administrative rules and practices. This position will work closely with the General Counsel, Deputy Secretary of State, OSS's division directors, and the Attorney General's office.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide legal analysis and advice with respect to the application of Minnesota statutes and rules to fact situations and hypothetical questions
- Provide on an agency wide basis, legal advice regarding OSS compliance with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and other applicable privacy laws.
- Assist in executing all legal and regulatory aspects of rulemaking.
- Provide legal review of legislation and assist in fiscal note coordination as required by the legislature.
This appointment is temporary in nature. It is anticipated to last one year with the possibility of turning permanent.
