Welcome! Did you know that Minnesota is consistently at or near the top of voter turnout in the nation?  And that includes young voters, 18-29! (We were #1 in 2024!)
One reason we are so successful is that our state (the Secretary of State's Office, county and city elections, schools and colleges, and many community groups) and works with students on topics like voting, advocacy, and civic engagement.  This page is your jumping-off point for all things voting and elections.

Events

  • Youth Day at the Capitol
    This annual late-winter gathering of 600 students in grades 6-12 includes training in advocacy, meetings with state legislators, speakers, and resources.

  • Students Voting (THE Minnesota Statewide K-12 Mock Election)
    In even-numbered years, students from all types of schools learn all about the process of voting, and cast a ballot in the largest state mock election in the country!

  • National Voter Registration Day at MN High Schools
    Every September this 30-minute rally for student voices, pre-registration, and civic engagement is hosted at two high schools and is broadcast virtually in schools across the state.  It features student and adult speakers and lots of great resources.
