2022 State Recounts

The State Canvassing Board met on November 29, 2022 to certify the official results reports for the November 8, 2022 State General Election. In addition to certifying election results, the canvassing board approved contingency plans for recounts.

Contests in House Districts 3A and 3B fell within the limits for a publicly funded recount. Candidates filed for recounts in these contests. Starting on Monday, December 5, election officials conducted recounts in those races in Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis counties. The Official Designations and Locations document lists deputy recount officials, start date/time, and location for each county. Recount results are available with other 2022 general election results.

The State Canvassing Board met on Thursday, December 15 at 1 p.m. to certify the recount canvassing reports. The canvassing board certificates and recount canvassing reports are available at the link below:

Aside from publicly funding recounts, any losing candidate can request a discretionary recount that would be conducted at their expense. The candidate must submit a request for a discretionary recount along with the funds to cover the cost of the recount within five days of the canvass of a primary election or within seven days of the canvass of a general election. No discretionary requests were filed for federal or state offices.
