The Presidential Nomination Primary is the election (held in early March every four years) that allows members of political parties to choose their nominee (the person the party will promote) for the presidential election the following November. For this election, Minnesota voters must choose to help one party with their decision (the party they generally agree with), and they get the ballot only for that party's vote. (Below you can see all three PNP ballots from one precinct in 2024.) It's the only election that voters are required to choose one party's ballot. That choice, though, doesn't affect who that voter can vote for in future elections.
