SAINT PAUL — Voting for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Nomination Primary will begin in Minnesota on January 19, 2024. In the primary, voters will have their choice of three ballots, one for each major party – Republican, Democratic-Farmer-Labor, or Legal Marijuana Now. Voters can only vote in one party’s primary.
Minnesota’s no-excuse absentee voting law allows for eligible voters to cast their ballot starting 46 days before the election. All absentee and mail ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day.
At mnvotes.gov, voters can request a ballot to vote from home, find their local election office, find their polling place and view a sample ballot.
On Thursday, January 18, the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State provided a briefing to the press on the start of absentee voting for the presidential nominating primary and a look ahead of 2024, including updates on election security, election worker recruitment, and voter outreach initiatives. Election Call Center
Voters can call the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State at 1-877-600-VOTE (8683) to ask their voting-related questions. The call center is available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours on Election Day.
Become an Election Judge
During every statewide election as many as 30,000 election judges are temporarily employed at polling places across Minnesota. Election judges are temporary, paid employees of local election officials trained to handle all aspects of voting at the polling place. Election judges are hired by local election offices.
