SAINT PAUL – Voting season began in Minnesota on September 22 for the November 7 local elections. Dozens of county, city, township, and school board contests will be on ballots around the state in addition to nearly one hundred ballot questions and special elections. Voters can find out if there is an election in their area at mnvotes.gov/pollfinder.
Minnesota’s no-excuse absentee voting law allows for eligible voters to cast their ballot starting 46 days before the election. Voters can request an absentee ballot from their local election office. All absentee and mail ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on election day.
This is the first general election since new election laws passed in 2023, including a law that gives Minnesotans the right to paid time off from work to vote any time during the 46-day voting period. In addition, starting on June 1, 2023, voting rights have been restored for those who have left prison behind.
