SAINT PAUL — Today, Secretary of State Steve Simon announced two appointments, Government Relations Director Nicole Freeman, and Voter Outreach Director Simone Frierson.
"Our office is so pleased to have Nicole and Simone on the team," said Secretary Simon. "They each bring highly specialized skills that will benefit Minnesotans in every corner of the state."
Freeman arrives at the Office after administering elections for Washington County for over four years. Prior to that, she served in both state and municipal government.
She brings with her on-the-ground knowledge of conducting local and statewide elections, as well as relationships with election administrators across the state.
"I look forward to working with the Office, its stakeholders, state legislators, and our congressional delegation to support Minnesota residents, businesses, and voters. I am excited to advocate for policies that improve the everyday lives of Minnesotans," said Freeman.
Frierson arrives on the heels of nearly a decade of elections administration, research, and advocacy in Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota. Most recently, Frierson worked for the Minnesota Judicial Branch and City of Minneapolis Elections and Voter Services Department.
"I look forward to developing partnerships and extending the resources of the Office to every Minnesotan," said Frierson. "Voting doesn't happen without solid civic education and community engagement. I want to help make voting a habit for all eligible Minnesota voters."
