Election Day is 4 Weeks Away
SAINT PAUL – Ahead of the November 8 General Election, the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State is highlighting the layers of elections administration in a new video created to remind Minnesotans of the successful processes in place that ensure our elections are free, fair, secure, and accurate.
The new short video – Minnesota Elections: Accessible, Secure, Accurate - details the strengths of Minnesota’s nation-leading elections processes. The video explains how Minnesota’s successful elections are due to the system’s three foundational pillars of accessibility, security, and accuracy.
“Minnesotans are the heart of our elections from the voters to the nearly 30,000 people who step up each election to ensure they are administered with integrity,” said Secretary Steve Simon. “Our state has so much to be proud of when it comes to elections administration from the ease of voting for all who are eligible, to the security measures in place that ensure our elections cannot be interfered with, to the post-election audits which confirm the accuracy of our elections each cycle.”
With just 28 days until the election, Minnesotans are also encouraged to get registered and make a plan to vote. While Minnesotans can choose to register to vote on Election Day, they are encouraged to pre-register by the October 18 registration deadline to save time at the polls. Eligible Minnesotans can register to vote online in just a few minutes at mnvotes.gov/register.
Eligible voters in Minnesota can request an absentee ballot to vote from home, vote early in person at a local election office, or cast their ballot at their local polling place on November 8. Voters who choose to vote from home should ensure they complete the witness section on their ballot envelope before mailing it in. All mailed ballots must be received by November 8 to be counted.
